Amsterdam City Hall recently released a schedule of upcoming meetings related to the Downtown Revitalization Initiative grant the city was awarded in September. Currently, a planning committee comprised of local business people, non-profit organization officials, and other community leaders is working to create a strategic investment plan to utilize the $10 million grant.
All meetings below will be held at the Amsterdam Housing Authority community room at 52 Division Street in Amsterdam, NY. All meetings are open to the public.
- December 4, 5pm to 7pm – Informational meeting for those interested in submitting project proposals
- December 5, 8am to 10am – Local planning committee meeting
- December 5, 2pm to 4pm – Public workshop, for the public to learn about the process and share ideas
- December 5, 6pm to 8pm – Public workshop
The city has also issued an open call for project proposals. Projects can be submitted either by private or non-profit sponsors and must support the goals of the initiative. Proposed projects must also be located within the downtown area. Funds can be used for new development, rehabilitation of existing buildings, or for branding and marketing purposes. Funds cannot be used for planning activities, operations and maintenance, property acquisition, training, or to supplement existing programs.
