Council begins new year with swearing-in and organizational meeting

City Court Judge Lisa Lorman officiated a swearing-in ceremony before Tuesday’s organizational meeting of the Amsterdam Common Council. Jim Martuscello, Chad Majewski, and Paul Ochal were each sworn in for their second two-year terms as aldermen. William Baaki was sworn in to replace the late Ed Russo, who passed away shortly after winning a third term as alderman in the November 2017 election. According to several other council members, Rodney Wojnar, who was also elected to a second term, was not present at the meeting because he recovering from a car accident.
