A new logo for the City of Amsterdam which incorporates the Mohawk River, the Mohawk Valley Gateway Overlook pedestrian bridge, as well as the traditional windmill, was released today by Assistant Recreation Director Danielle Whelly. According to the accompanying press release, the new design was created as part of the effort to overhaul the city’s website and was the result of a collaborative effort between the City of Amsterdam, a city marketing committee, and the Amsterdam-based web design company Engines of Creation.
In the release, Mayor Michael Villa stated, “I think our logo symbolizes what Amsterdam is striving for, a pathway to tourism and economic growth. I believe we have taken steps to pursue the vision that our logo represents – growth and revitalization.”
A new slogan for the city is also planned. According to the release, there will be a selection process incorporating public input after the new website is launched.
