Amsterdam Industrial Development Agency Board Chairman Pat Baia said on Thursday that he recently received a letter of resignation from Director Jody Zakrevsky, who will be accepting a new position as the CEO of Otsego Now, a partnership of three different economic development agencies in Otsego County, NY.
“He was very happy working with the City of Amsterdam AIDA, we had a great relationship,” said Baia, “He’s going to be missed.”
Baia had high praise for Zakrevsky’s grant writing abilities, which he said had been key to the agency’s success since he took the position of director just over six years ago.
At next week’s meeting, Baia said he will discuss with the rest of the board the possibility of keeping Zakrevsky on as a consultant for a time.
“That will help us complete the projects he started, because there are a lot of projects that he was in the process of working with,” said Baia.
Baia listed several ongoing projects the agency is involved with, including renovations at the former wrestling hall of fame, electrical upgrades at the Edson Street industrial park, administering micro-enterprise grants, as well as efforts to attract developers for the former FGI building and Mohasco property.
Baia said he will propose appointing an interim director for the short term as well as putting together a search committee with the goal of hiring a permanent director in early 2018.
