A small group of area residents have a vision to cultivate the arts in the City of Amsterdam and surrounding region. The group is called Arts for All and is currently working to incorporate as a non-profit organization. Approximately seven people attended a meeting on Saturday at the Amsterdam Free Library to talk about the long-range vision for the group and what steps to take next.
The effort is being spearheaded by Amsterdam resident Jay Towne, who has previously produced the radio drama series “Any Good Thing” and “Minutiae”. Towne said his desire is to help organize, fund, and produce larger dramatic or theatrical productions. Through the organization, Towne hopes to secure funding for projects through grants and donations.
In addition to theatrical productions, the group also hopes to foster visual arts projects, art exhibitions, short films, chorale performances, as well as sensory-friendly programs for children with special needs.
The group is currently seeking people to serve as board members for the organization. For more information, contact Jay Towne at 518-627-4628.
