Absentee count widens Martuscello’s lead, Leggiero concedes

According to the Montgomery County Board of Elections, absentee ballots opened yesterday yielded 19 votes for fifth ward alderman challenger Jim Martuscello, and 12 votes for incumbent Rich Leggiero. The unofficial results from last Tuesday’s election now stand at 354 votes for Martuscello and 334 votes for Leggiero. On Tuesday evening after a common council committee meeting,  Leggiero said he is conceding the race to Martuscello. Martuscello will join two fellow Democrats, Rodney Wojnar and Chad Majewski, on the common council in January, along with two Republicans, Ed Russo and Paul Ochal. Russo was the only incumbent candidate on the common council to be re-elected.
