“The Gathering” Christian music festival held at Shuttleworth Park

Fourteen different Christian bands and individual musicians performed on two stages throughout the day at Shuttleworth Park in Amsterdam on Saturday. The event, called “The Gathering Of HIS Body” first began in 2008, has since become an annual tradition, bringing together area believers for a day of worship and fellowship.

Although Mark Darrow has been involved with the event as a sound engineer since it’s beginning, this year was the first that he and his wife Armeda have been in charge of coordinating the event. The Darrows have worked with approximately 20 volunteers since April to plan the festival.

Darrow described the event as “the coming together of people who go to church and call themselves Christians, who want to come together to be able to worship the Lord. It’s not for preaching, it’s not for teaching, it’s just to come together to fellowship, to have a great time – to be able to get to know each other and worship the Lord together.”
