Mohawks Moments

The Amsterdam Mohawks continued their winning ways Friday night at Shuttleworth Park with a 3-0 win over the Adirondack Trail Blazers. Fernando Guerrero provided a solid start on the mound for the Mohawks going seven innings and teaming up with Tyler Smith on a seven hit shutout. Riley Mahan provided the offense belting a first inning home run for Amsterdam (25-6). The Mohawks pounded out nine hits getting two apiece from Mahan, Gage West, and Aiden McDermott. Amsterdam currently sits atop the East Division of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL).

During the between inning fun and celebrations that have become tradition at Mohawks home games, the team wished Amsterdam resident Beverly Kreisel a happy 84th birthday. Kresiel got a chance to throw out a ceremonial pitch. Also, it was singles night at Shuttleworth, and “dating game” contestant Hannah asked questions to three bachelors while blindfolded before choosing her date.

The Mohawks return to action tonight traveling to Elmira for a 7pm contest at Dunn Field with the PGCBL West Division leading Pioneers (20-11). Amsterdam returns home on Tuesday for a double header with Victor. Game one with the Railriders is scheduled to begin at 5pm.
