Soccer Camp
In coordination with the Amsterdam Youth Soccer Club, Afrim’s Sports center is holding a soccer camp at Amsterdam High School from July 13 to July 17 for kids ages 6 to 18. You can sign up for either full or half days. Go to Afrim’s website to register.
Baseball Camp
Various types of baseball camps staffed by Amsterdam Mohawks players are being offered at Shuttleworth Park in Amsterdam. Upcoming camps include the All Pro camp for ages 5-16 (June 29 to July 3), Pitching Camp for ages 8-16 (July 6 to July 9), High School Camp for ages 13+ (July 15-16), Hitting Camp for ages 8-16 (July 20 to 23). Walter Elwood Museum Summer Enrichment Camp
The Walter Elwood Museum at the Rao Center at 100 Church St, Amsterdam will be hosting a variety of activities for kids through the months of July and August. Class topics include: Play With Clay Days, Amsterdam’s Got Talent, Amsterdam Industry, Mary VanderVeer, Games and Puzzles, Famous Women Artists, A Collage of Creative Arts. Amsterdam Free Library
The Amsterdam Library at 28 Church St, Amsterdam, will have a free reading based program every weekday at 10:30am or 1:00pm from June 29 to August 29. Some events require advanced registration. Topics include: Heroes of science, making a robot hand, national parks, acrobatics and juggling, community heroes, astronomy, superheroes, the environment and many more, as well as sessions by the Schenectady Museum of Innovation and Science. Schoharie Crossing
The Schoharie Crossing Historic Site, 137-141 Schoharie St, Fort Hunter, will be holding its annual Canal Days event on July 11 and 12. Three on Three Basketball Tournament
The Wishful Thinking Foundation will sponsor it’s fourth annual “Stop the Violence” memorial 3-on-3 basketball tournament, Saturday, July 11 at Veterans Field, Amsterdam. The registration fee for teams is $10 per youth, $20 per adult. Registration deadline is July 9. Click here to register.
Amsterdam Recreation Dept. Summer Camp
The Amsterdam Recreation Department will be offering an all day summer camp from July 6 to August 14 at the Youth Center at Bacon School, 40 Henrietta Blvd., Amsterdam. The camp runs from 8:30am to 3:00pm and includes free breakfast and lunch. Cost is $60 per child per week or $95 per family per week or $15 per day. Activities include sports, fitness, team building and other fun activities. Click here for more details.
