Recreation basketball high school finals set for Wednesday

Moller Manages and DJ- AYPE punched their tickets for the final game of the 2014-2015 Amsterdam Recreation Basketball League with victories in the semi-finals of the Wishful Thinking sponsored high school boys division Monday night at Bacon Recreation Center.

DJ -AYPE 78 – Wishful Ups 68

Jayson Lasada led three players in double digit scoring with 20 points to help DJ- AYPE erase a five point deficit at halftime and surge past Wishful Ups in the first semi-final game. Tasheek Hill scored 17 points and Mike Garcia added 14 points for the winners.

David Crawford and Anthony Noce teamed up for 23 points in the first half as Wishful Ups took a 39-34 lead at the break, but Lasada scored the majority of his points in the second half including six coming in the final two minutes when Wishful Ups had pulled to within 64-60.

Chrstian Ortiz scored six points for DJ -AYPE. Gabe DeJesus and Sergio Muniz added four points each.

Noce finished with a game high 26 points, and Crawford poured in 21 points for Wishful Ups. Nelson Quinones (8 pts), Alec Opalka (5 pts), Tim Dicaprio (3 pts), Marcus Torres (3 pts), and AJ Smith (3 pts) all got on the board for Wishful Ups.

Moller Manages 63 – Cuddy Dreams 47

Anthony Torres scored a game high 28 points, most coming from beyond the three-point arc to lead Moller Manages into the championship game. Taliq Sims tallied nine points, JT Torres added seven for the Moller Manages cause.

Trailing 20-16 midway through the first half, Anthony Torres connected on three straight attempts from long distance sending Moller Manages on a 12-0 run and boosting them to 42-26 lead at the break. Brian Torres scored 20 of his total in the first half.

The two teams broke even in the second half, with Cuddy Dreams led by Uriah Plaskett (10 pts), and Hunter Baker (10 pts). Kyle Agresta and Jose German each scored seven points for Cuddy Dreams, Twittle Williams added three points and Khalil Saleem scored two points.

Mike Gomez and Alfredo Lora added six points apiece for Moller Manages. Brian Tavares and Franco Rositio added four points each, and Damien Webber added three points in the winning cause.

The championship game in the Wishful Thinking High School Boys division is scheduled for Wednesday at 6:30pm, at the Bacon Recreation Center.
