St. Stanislaus Church held it’s annual Parish Festival this past weekend. Highlights of the weekend included a cars show (a first for the event), food, games, and live entertainment.
On Saturday, the festivities started at 5:00 pm with contestants lining up for the car show which was won by Larry LaPort, driving a yellow and gold Indy Pace car. Music was provided by The Rogues, an oldies cover band, playing tunes from the Beatles to Chuck Barry to Neil Diamond.
Sunday’s events started out with a Polka Mass, with a sermon given by Bishop Edward Scharfenberger, a polish food feast, and entertainment from the Rymanowski Brothers, a Polka band, who in one form or another have been playing for almost 70 years.
According to Dennis Rymanowski, his dad and uncle founded the band in 1947. “They played up until 1985 when our dad retired at 73, and they both passed away since, so my brother and I have been playing with the band since and running it. We played one of these about 10 years ago and we also did the Mass this year.”
