Montgomery County Legislature Chairman Thomas Quackenbush issued two proclamations at Tuesday’s meeting honoring local residents for their accomplishments.
Anthony Stewart of Boy Scout Troop 48 in Amsterdam was honored for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout.
“We in Montgomery County want to recognize Anthony’s accomplishments,” Quackenbush said after reading the proclamation citing Anthony’s years in scouting and his leadership skills.
Quackenbush also honored Nicholas Bartosik, who recently retired from his position as Montgomery County’s director of weights and measures.
“Nick spent 18 years protecting consumers in Montgomery County,” Quackenbush said. The proclamation cited Bartosik’s years as a volunteer firefighter and other accomplishments as well.
Also at Tuesday’s meeting. Susan Arminio, director of Project Action, asked legislators for a resolution supporting the organization’s efforts to ban tobacco marketing, which she said encourages young people to begin smoking.
Legislators also passed a resolution that was tabled in April naming District 5 Legislator Terry Bieniek and County Treasurer Shawn Bowerman to the county’s Landfill Advisory Board.
